USP-NF: Sodium Formaldehyde Sulfoxylate

Sodium Formaldehyde Sulfoxylate: Bleaching Agent Assays via 1H Benchtop NMR Spectroscopy (2023)

Sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate is a sulfur-based reducing agent commonly used as a bleach in the dye industry. In this application note, we demonstrate equivalency to the current USP-NF monograph assay method, which requires the use of titration in water, using iodine and starch as titrants. This is done using benchtop quantitative nuclear magnetic resonance (qNMR) spectroscopy.
